Cloud Host Dispatches: Episode 338

Here’s what our cloud hosts had to say about this week’s episode: 338: T5Gemma Says “AI’ll be Back”

Justin Brodley

I’ve had a chance to play with Anthropic Cowork since it launched, and we talked about it on the show. I’m impressed with its versatility and approach. You can see how these technologies can serve as personal assistants and help take the toil out of day-to-day tasks. It will be interesting to see the long-term impacts on careers and employment as we move from task execution toward more creative and innovative ideation, leveraging AI to complete the work.
I’m not surprised to see acquisitions in the FinOps space. The number of vendors providing RI/SP optimization and spend dashboards is far too high, all competing on what are essentially commodity features. AI, ML, predictability, and issue avoidance are the natural evolution for these tools, and many vendors may not be able to make the transition, resulting in consolidation across the space.
For 2026, we launched per-episode show note covers generated with the help of AI. I have to say the Terminator T5 Gemma artwork is my favorite one so far! Stay tuned to see what else comes out of our crazy show titles.

Since recording, I’ve been playing with Claude Cowork and I’m really enjoying it. Its been great for research and data aggregation for personal research projects. Also, I’m still shocked that AWS had no newsworthy announcements. Did someone forget to wake up the press release team?
