Cloud Host Dispatches - Episode 360

Here’s what our cloud hosts had to say about this week’s episode: 360: And you thought AWS was out of features for S3. Surprise!

Justin Brodley

I heard from several of you last week, if you didn’t have a chance just hit reply and say hello!

For a while now, we’ve been thinking about how fast (or not) we get the podcast and newsletter into your hands. The news cycle moves at breakneck speed these days, and our current worst case is a 14 day gap between a story breaking and us actually talking about it on the show. Not exactly “breaking news” territory.
Justin’s post last week about sharing a raw copy of the podcast got the gears turning, so we started brainstorming other ways to get you the good stuff faster. A few ideas we’ve kicked around:
A raw copy of the newsletter, sent out the day after we record. You’d see exactly what made the cut, whether it’s genuinely great content or something we just couldn’t resist making fun of. (We aim for Tuesdays, though wrangling three schedules into one recording slot each week is its own weekly adventure.)
A feature on Bolt that gives listeners a live copy of our weekly notes, articles and all, before we cull the herd down to what actually makes the podcast.
A simple notification the moment a new episode drops, so you’re never the last to know.
Truth be told, we’re not fully sold on any one of these yet. What we are sold on is making this show as valuable as possible for the people who show up for it every week. So if any of these ideas sound appealing (or if you’ve got a better one), let us know. Slack, email, social media, carrier pigeon, whatever works for you.
